Geographical location: The region of Trnava borders with three countries - the Czech Republic (a common border of ca 45 km), Austria (ca 12 km) and Hungary (a common border of ca 48 km) which creates preconditions of development of cross-border co-operation. The favourable demographic potential, strategic geographic location, long-term spa traditions and favourable climatic conditions are preconditions of further economic development.
The self-governing region of Trnava is part of the „golden triangle" - of the developing region of Vienna - Bratislava - Györ. The distance Trnava - Vienna is ca 118 km and Trnava - Györ is ca 108 km. In the vicinity, ca 50 km, there is M. R. Štefánik Airport at Ivánka pri Dunaji and Schwechat - Wien Airport (ca 110 km).

In plant production, densely sown cereals, maize, sugar beet, vegetables, fruits, and vine are grown. Animal production deals with cattle and swine raising; poultry raising is being extended. Owing to climatic conditions, the region belongs to the agriculturally most important ones within Slovakia.
